I hope you are doing well and staying healthy. I would like to thank all community members for your effort in trying to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on our community by following the measures put in place by all levels of government.

While our Municipal, Provincal and Federal Governments are keeping their websites up to date, I wanted to take this chance to summarize some of the impacts and changes in our community during this unprecedented moment in time.

Considerations for holiday gatherings for Easter and Passover:

  • Restrict in-person holiday gatherings to ONLY people living in the same home.
  • Beat the pre-holiday rush and purchase your Easter/Passover dinner groceries ahead of time. Remember, only ONE person from a household should go shopping. Make a list so you can quickly purchase your goods.
  • Always practice preventative measures – frequent hand washing and physical distancing.

As per for the Province of Saskatchewan's latest news release, be prepared to celebrate Easter or Passover in a different way by hosting a virtual gathering using digital technology, as opposed to inviting family and friends over for dinner.

The City of Saskatoon has been working hard to ensure our core services are able to operate safely and reliably (e.g. Fire, Police, Transit and Utilities). While City Hall and facilities are closed to the public, our business operations continue to provide important services for our residents as much as possible. We continue to post regular updates at saskatoon.ca/covid-19

A few of the larger civic service changes can be found here:

During these unprecedented moments in time, it is important that time sensitive decisions are still able to be made. City Council has continued to meet (through telecommunications) for our regularly scheduled meetings, as well as special meetings as needed. As always, I have prepared City Council in Brief blog posts. They can be found at wardeight.ca/issues. Check out these posts to keep up to date with decisions made at City Hall.

Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments. Thank you again for everything you’re doing to keep your family and your neighbours safe and healthy during this challenging time.
