Speed Limit Review - Technical Report and Survey Results

The speed limits on residential streets are under review in Saskatoon, following comments from residents concerned about safety during neighbourhood traffic reviews throughout the city. Results from this spring’s surveys will be presented to City Council’s Standing Policy Committee on Transportation on June 7 along with collision statistics and current speed limits in other Canadian cities.

Arrival of Transit in Brighton

After much anticipation, Transit is coming to Brighton on May 31, 2021.

As of May 31, 2021 riders can request a trip to and from any transit stop throughout the entire city including Brighton and the new Costco! This service will be available from Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., transfer-free or with connections to our high frequency corridors.

Foxtail Barley Enforcement 2021

The City received a report back in March 2021 outlining the Administration's plan to enforce Foxtail Barley proactively for the 2021 season. Due to time constraints in March, the report was only considered by the Standing Policy Committee on Planning, Development and Community Services in April. Carbon Monoxide Detectors

I know carbon monoxide poisoning has been top of mind for many neighbours. At today's City Council meeting, I put forward a motion that the Mayor and I have been working on. It was unanimously supported and included reporting on the following:

  • Information on the current approach and requirements on carbon monoxide alarms in properties in the City of Saskatoon
  • What options are available to require carbon monoxide detectors in buildings older than 2009
  • A review of best practices of how other cities have addressed this challenge
