I hope you have had a wonderful summer. I know many families are now gearing up for the start of school. I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer.

This month's newsletter contains some ward specific updates, including the proposal near Lakewood Civic Centre, and rezoning in Brighton. There are also some big items up for discussion related to the Downtown Event and Entertainment District, including a private partnership agreement and the funding strategy. Updates on all these items are included in the body of this email.

Don't forget to check out the community events at the bottom of this newsletter. Our local Community Associations, including Briarwood and Greystone, are planning community events in the coming weeks.

Summer has been well underway. I hope you have had the chance to enjoy this time.

This month City Council has a shortened meeting schedule. This newsletter provides an update on the items that will be before City Council on Wednesday, July 31 and some ward specific updates. This includes:

  • Brighton Concept Plan amendments 
  • Updates related to Saskatoon Transit, including fixed route service in Brighton and the start of Fire Community Support Program
  • Exciting updates regarding Bus Rapid Transit
  • Zoning Bylaw Amendment to Remove Minimum Parking Requirements

This month's Public Hearing has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items, but the Regular Business meeting includes discussion around:

  • an amendment request to the Heritage Designation Bylaw for the Third Avenue United Church.
