I hope you have had a wonderful summer. I know many families are now gearing up for the start of school. I hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer.
This month's newsletter contains some ward specific updates, including the proposal near Lakewood Civic Centre, and rezoning in Brighton. There are also some big items up for discussion related to the Downtown Event and Entertainment District, including a private partnership agreement and the funding strategy. Updates on all these items are included in the body of this email.
Don't forget to check out the community events at the bottom of this newsletter. Our local Community Associations, including Briarwood and Greystone, are planning community events in the coming weeks.

Summer has been well underway. I hope you have had the chance to enjoy this time.
This month City Council has a shortened meeting schedule. This newsletter provides an update on the items that will be before City Council on Wednesday, July 31 and some ward specific updates. This includes:
- Brighton Concept Plan amendments
- Updates related to Saskatoon Transit, including fixed route service in Brighton and the start of Fire Community Support Program
- Exciting updates regarding Bus Rapid Transit
- Zoning Bylaw Amendment to Remove Minimum Parking Requirements

As I will be unable to provide the same level of detail in my newsletters while I am on a leave of absence, I wanted to ensure you still received notice ahead of City Council meetings.
This newsletter will take an opportunity to share updates related to a few areas of interest for neighbours, including the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) proposals, median opening along McKercher Drive and proposed changes to the green bin program.

This month's Public Hearing has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items, but the Regular Business meeting includes discussion around:
- vehicle noise mitigation updates, and
- an amendment request to the Heritage Designation Bylaw for the Third Avenue United Church.

City Council has been hard at work this summer with our regularly scheduled meetings and additional Special Budget Meetings. This newsletter provides an update on the budget, decisions before City Council this month, and a few ward specific updates.

December 2022 Newsletter
For those celebrating holidays during this time, I wish you a wonderful holiday season.
I wanted to sneak in one more newsletter before the end of the year. In this newsletter there are updates from City Council and specific to Ward 8. These include:
- changes to black bin schedules,
- tree protection bylaw,
- a new Urban Reserve Agreement, and
- an update on the Downtown Event and Entertainment District.
I hope you and your family have an opportunity to check out your local rink and cross-country ski trails. If you see volunteers from your Community Association, be sure to thank them for keeping the rink maintained. They've been hard at work ensuring great ice surfaces and public skate times.
