As we wind up 2021, I want to start by wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season. As a gentle reminder, don't forget these tips from the Saskatchewan Health Authority if you are looking to gather with family or friends this holiday season. Furthermore, boosters are now available for all those 18+. Join me in getting your booster as soon as you are eligible.

Don't forget to check your mailboxes! This week I sent out our annual printed newsletter to every home in Ward 8. The newsletter provides a further update for neighbours, including highlights from the past year and budget deliberations.

For those of us who have not had a chance to connect recently, consider joining our monthly Coffee with your Councillor event. The next events will be held on:

  • January 26, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
  • February 23, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
  • March 24, 2022 | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

For the time being, meetings are held on Zoom.

What's happening in Ward 8!

Here are some other great things happening in Ward 8 soon or put on by members of our community.

  • City groomed cross country ski trails will be ready between January 4 to 7, 2022. Visit saskatoon.ca/ski for more details. Trails in the ward include Wildwood Golf Course, Donna Birkmaier, Dr Gerhard Herzberg, Edward McCourt, along 8th Street (in East College Park) and Wildwood Parks.
  • Community Association rinks are open, so don't forget to take a look at public skate times. If you see any of the rink volunteers, don't forget to thank them.
  • The College of Nursing and the City have partnered on research for our green network. Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/ZJV7V6D. The survey looks to gather anonymous information on how people living in Saskatoon experience the green network during physical distancing measures of the pandemic.
  • The College Corridor Plan continues to be underway. Take a look at more information here.
  • Two rezoning applications have been submitted in Brighton. There are opportunities to learn more about these applications and provide feedback before they are submitted to a Public Hearing.
